BIO: Dr. Carrie Landa is a clinical psychologist and director of behavioral medicine and associate director of Student Health Services at Boston University.

She has worked in higher education for more than 20 years. She is the cofounder of the Wellbeing Project, a University initiative to engage the entire campus in supporting student wellness.

Carrie has made significant strides at Boston University to integrate wellness and mental health throughout all aspects of the college experience. Her research focuses on the health impacts of disasters.

Jennifer has led interdisciplinary research projects funded by many federal agencies and was part of the public health response to hurricanes Isabel, Charley, Katrina, Wilma, Irene, and Harvey, where she conducted rapid assessments of disaster impacts on individual and community health. She has also provided technical assistance to public health agencies globally around disasters, emerging infectious disease outbreaks, and pandemic influenza planning and response.

She spent 20 years in New York and Los Angeles pursuing a career in acting, writing, and directing. She began her work in staff advocacy in by serving as the treasurer and then chair of the UNC Chapel Hill Employee Forum, the staff advisory body to the chancellor. Recently she completed her fourth term as the chair and now serves as the immediate past chair. In this role, she helps to manage and coordinate care related to COVID across the Boston University community for both students and employees.

Throughout her career, the importance of providing comprehensive and integrated care and services for community-based populations has been a priority focus.

Earlier in her career, Leana specialized in supporting adult and geriatric populations, helping to develop and manage programs in two different organizations that serve Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries. She is also certified in palliative care and provided these services in various clinical and community settings.
